Is it cheaper to charge an EV at night?
It can be much cheaper if your utility offers a time-of-use or EV rate with lower overnight prices. On a flat residential rate, charging time may not change the energy price.
Does the calculator include charging losses?
Yes. The calculator assumes 90% charging efficiency, meaning roughly 10% more electricity is drawn from the wall than reaches the battery.
Are fixed utility fees included?
No. Results estimate EV energy charges only. Fixed monthly fees, taxes, demand charges, public charging, and rate-plan enrollment requirements are not included.
